Kids Corner - Let's Decorate And Have Some Fun

The kids corner is going to be a blast! This is a section where we all can get involved! We know children at any age change their minds are on a lot of different topics, as they explore and learn.

As a mother of two grown daughters that has been through each of their own decorating stages.

Ah, I remember the purple Lilac room, the bold flowers, a stark white room, hum, that one didn't stay that long.

One of the things I did was give them the option of different colors over a period of time.

To save a little money instead of constantly changing colors, I would change out the comforter or bedspread. The girls sometimes had a summer comforter and a winter one. This gave them a new look every once in awhile.

Themes, colors, accents, and accessories are all part of creating a warm and inviting place for your child. An idea is to have your children make some crafts and display them in their room. This shows real identity and ownership for his or her living space.

I look at myself as sometimes a kid at heart. I have always love stuffed animals and still use a variety of these little critters in decorating different rooms.

I love tortoise and turtles. Now you may think I am a little strange, but I have a tortoise collection sitting next to my workstation. All different figurines and a couple of stuffed animals.

This is the beauty of decorating with stuffed animals and other children's decor, adults can decorate with these colors and accessories too. This stuffed turtle is great for a toddler or pre-schooler, and I know I would consider adding it to my collection. Browse through the toys and games at our Inside Out Decorating Store.

A couple of other ideas is to consider decorating some different sports themes in room, especially favorite teams.. Outdoors an the nature colors is another great idea for young people to use in a theme.

The first picture illustrates bright colors. The lime shade of green is the focal point, blending in with vibrant yellow, purple, and a soft blue.

Colors for kids can range from the primary shades, to soft pastel tones.

The neutral stuffed animal softens the brighter colors. I love the small yellow star and deep pink star pillow. A very inviting color scheme for children. Notice also the trim on the bigger pillow. A combination using the complimentary colors. Great balance to this color theme.

A formal look in a child's room can bring warmth. The light sage green walls is a great foundation color. The white creates a crisp look, yet staying in the warm feeling of the room.

The floral pattern in the rug and chair provide a great accent to the room. The sitting bench cushion matches the walls. The pillow blend in with the floral and light sage walls. Great formal look for any age. The next two photos create a totally different look in feel for a variety of ages.

This is a classic country kids theme. Raggedy Ann and Andy highlight this theme. I still have these dolls I got so many years ago.

I will periodically display them when I change a room around. I love the country quilt and how it blends in with the dolls. Patchwork style is great for an old time or country look.

Notice the two pillows. One is completely done in patchwork, while the other has a white base with a center square. The wood furniture sets the stage for this distinct country look and feel.

The bunk beds provide the focal point in this room. The simple decor creates an open and spacious look. Solid blue bedspreads off sets the bright tone yellow walls. Wallpaper on the one wall gives the room a unique dimension.

The light wood tone in the bed frame and furniture creates a balance and warmth to the bedroom. Great idea for the budget minded person. This style can be done in different colors for all ages.
